SUDBURY, ON – Sheepie has done it again! The Changing Climate Show, featuring the beloved rubber-booted sheep narrated by Rick Mercer, has won an international award for “Best Institutional Media Installation”; the 4th award for Science North’s most recent object theatre multimedia production.
This award comes from the Jackson Hole Science Media Awards, part of the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival and Symposium in Wyoming, U.S., internationally renowned as the largest and most prestigious competition of the natural history genre. The Changing Climate Show was among four contenders in the category. These included the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and Honeywell, and the Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose.
Science North’s Senior Manager of International Sales, Julie Moskalyk, is thrilled: “Science North’s Changing Climate Show is part of an award-winning line-up of immersive multimedia products that we envision, create, and install in science centres, museums, aquariums and visitor centres all over the world. We are pleased that Science North has been recognized internationally, especially during this inaugural awards competition.”
“As a science centre whose vision is to be the leader among science centres in providing inspirational, educational and entertaining science experiences, Science North is pleased to receive this award for the Changing Climate Show” said Science North CEO Guy Labine. “This show is not only part of the visitor experience at Science North but also a popular choice with our international clients who have purchased copies of it for their science centres. To be recognized by over 80 international judges and selected from over 400 international entries is a great honour.”
The Changing Climate Show takes a humorous yet educational look at how a changing climate has affected Sheepie and his wooly friends over the past decade. The show focuses on the positive steps that we can all take to minimize our impact on the planet.
Among the other awards the Changing Climate Show has received are the Themed Entertainment Association’s (TEA) Award for Outstanding Achievement on a Limited Budget, and two American Pixel Academy Golden Pixie Awards for Animation and Visual Effects.
